Terms & Conditions
Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully before placing a bespoke order or approving a design quote. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights.

2. Our Bespoke Service (Definitions)
Every piece of jewellery crafted by WelshGold.com on this website is a Bespoke / Offline Commission.
- Bespoke Commission: Any piece individually designed, specified, quoted, engraved, adapted, or created for a specific client.
- Made to Specification: Because our pieces are custom-made to your individual instructions (including metal choice, ring size, gemstone selection, engraving, or crests), they fall outside standard consumer distance-selling change-of-mind cancellation frameworks once approved.
- Payment Links & Invoices: Payments collected via Stripe invoice, bespoke payment link, or direct bank transfer serve solely as a secure mechanism to collect funds and do not convert a custom commission into a standard off-the-shelf product.
3. Order Process, Deposits & Payment Terms
When proceeding with a bespoke commission quote, you will be offered two payment structures:
- Pay in Full (100% Upfront): Settles the full balance immediately prior to crafting.
- 50% Deposit Scheme:
- Stage 1: A 50% initial deposit is required to secure materials, initiate CAD/workshop design, and begin crafting.
- Stage 2: The remaining 50% balance becomes payable upon completion of the piece in our workshop, prior to final hallmarking at the Assay Office and dispatch.
Two-Step Order Acceptance
Due to the extreme rarity of genuine Welsh gold, placing an order or paying a deposit creates an initial order request. Contractual acceptance occurs when our workshop verifies material stock and sends your official Order Acceptance email (typically within 7 days). If materials are unavailable, any held funds or deposits will be immediately released/refunded.
4. Design Retainers & Intellectual Property
- Design Retainers: Where a deposit or retainer is paid to cover design stages (such as initial sketches, CAD modeling, or 3D renders), the portion of the fee covering completed design work is non-refundable should you decide not to proceed.
- Ownership of Design Assets: Unless explicitly agreed in writing, all CAD files, design drawings, renders, physical models, and manufacturing processes created by snowdoniawelshgold.com remain our sole intellectual property.
- Client-Supplied Designs: If you provide artwork, crests, logos, or sketches for us to recreate, you confirm that you hold the legal right to use them and that doing so does not infringe on third-party intellectual property.
5. Client Responsibilities (Sizing, Engraving & Approvals)
- Written Approvals: Before production begins, you will be asked to approve your design specification, dimensions, metal choice, and engraving text in writing.
- Spelling & Details: You are 100% responsible for verifying the accuracy of spelling, dates, inscriptions, and sizing details in your written approval.
- Sizing Responsibility: Items made accurately to the size or chain length supplied/approved by you are not considered faulty if they do not fit. Sizing adjustments or remakes are subject to workshop feasibility and will be quoted as a separate service.
6. Cancellations, Exclusions & Returns
Change-of-Mind Exclusions
In accordance with UK and international consumer law, the standard 14-day change-of-mind right of cancellation/withdrawal DOES NOT apply to bespoke commissions, personalised items, engraved pieces, or custom modifications.
Faulty Goods & Statutory Rights
Nothing in these Terms excludes your statutory rights. If your item is faulty, damaged in transit, or does not match your agreed written specification:
- Contact us immediately at hello(at)snowdoniawelshgold(dot)com with your order details and photos.
- We will inspect, repair, replace, or rectify the issue at our expense in accordance with your legal rights.
7. Customer-Supplied Gemstones & Heirloom Jewellery
Where we agree in writing to incorporate a customer-supplied gemstone or heirloom material into a bespoke design:
- A professional assessment will be conducted prior to work.
- You acknowledge that working with previously set, vintage, or customer-supplied gemstones carries inherent physical risk (such as hidden inclusions, fractures, or stress points). Provided reasonable care and skill are exercised, WelshGold.com is not liable for pre-existing material frailties.
8. Delivery, Customs & International Logistics
- Secure Delivery: All items are dispatched fully insured via trackable, signed-for services (e.g., Royal Mail Special Delivery, FedEx, DHL). A signature is strictly required upon delivery.
- Duties & International Taxes: For non-UK orders, local customs duties, import taxes, or carrier clearance fees are the customer’s responsibility unless pre-calculated at checkout.
- International Returns for Servicing: If an item is returned from outside the UK for optional resizing or alteration, the client is responsible for all shipping, insurance, and correct customs paperwork. Incorrect customs declarations resulting in import VAT or tariffs charged to WelshGold.com will be recovered from the customer.
9. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
